Future Kids was born from a dream to make a difference in Early Learning Education for Kiwi families. We provide the perfect environment where imagination can be grown and skills can be developed. With good old fashion values that encompass home grown cooked meals that have organic wholesome food included in them with our no added sugar policy - each and every day!

We strive to provide a green and sustainable home away from home in a wholesome, natural environment. With free access to the outdoors to run and play in the fresh air, the children have the freedom to express themselves and will be loved and supported for who they are.

Orchard

Our centre has a fruit orchard with many varieties of organic fruit for the children to pick and eat including apples, Nashi, feijoas, peaches, plums, oranges, lemons, Raspberries and mandarins. Our fences are lined with grape vines and hedges made from fruit trees as part of our vision to have an edible garden. Each room as its own raised-bed gardens in which we grow organic vegetables, herbs and of course fresh strawberries. All of the produce grown will be eaten by the children, with any excess produce offered to our families or used as part of fundraising activities.

Organic menu

Offering organic wholefood choices with a zero sugar policy.  Not only are our organic menus delicious, but they fuel your child with the proper nutrition.  Providing your child with optimal health and wellness.

Animals

Our centres  are also home to our family of animals, chickens, rabbits, guinea pig, Kunekune pig, beehives and a worm farm. Daily activities for the children at the centre include handling and feeding animals, and collecting food waste from meals to feed the chickens and worm-farms. This interaction encourages children to learn about sustainability and the way nature relates to their daily lives.

Eco-friendly cleaning products

Our centres use eco-friendly cleaning products which provide a non-toxic environment

Recycling

We are strongly focused on recycling all waste in our centre with purpose built recycling centres in each room for organic food waste, soft plastics, hard plastics and cardboard.

Solar panels

Our centre has solar energy panels which store the sun’s natural energy, providing a renewable source of energy to the centre.   There are no direct greenhouse gas emissions because the electricity is made from direct sunlight rather than burning fossil fuels.

Rainwater harvesting

We have two large rainwater tanks that gather rainwater from the roof then we feed it back to the gardens and orchard.

Purified water

Our centre has HRV water filters installed.  This reduces sediment, chlorine and other contaminants,  delivering clean filtered water from every tap.

Wooden furniture

Our centres are fitted with local New Zealand made high quality non toxic wood furniture with an emphasis on beauty, functionality, and environmental awareness.

Our Programme

Our programme at Future Kids is based on the New Zealand early childhood education curriculum called Te Whariki.

Future Kids is committed to providing a programme that balances the interests of the child together with the aspirations of both the parents and teachers. Our programme is varied and flexible on a day to day basis, developing the curiosities of children. We offer a range of learning opportunities within our sustainable environment to engage tamariki in a well-resourced, creative and inspiring environment.

Amanda Newth
Manager / Team Leader

Kia ora, my name is Amanda. I grew up in Wellington, studying at Victoria University where I received my Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood in 2016. My partner and I wanted a change of pace, and decided to move to the beautiful Taranaki in 2022; where we have just bought our first house. We have two cats, Mo and Evie, who I adore.

I have worked in a number of ECE centres, where my passion lies with infants and toddlers. I find it extremely rewarding to develop strong relationships with tamariki and their whānau. I’m extremely excited to be a part of Future Kids Spotswood and support its growth as a centre.

Annalyse Bibby

Kia Ora,

My name is Annalysse, and I am excited to be a part of the Future Kids whānau.

I am currently in my 3rd and final year of studying Bachelor of Teaching Early Childhood Education.

I have been working with children aged 3 months to 5 for the past 8 years, first I started off as an in-home educator while my own children were younger and then moved to a center to further my experience, knowledge and gain my qualifications.

I believe children learn best through play as this supports children’s social, emotional and physical development, when we weave in respect and reciprocal relationships this is giving our children the best start in life.

Outside of teaching I live with my husband Aaron and our 2 boys Ashton 12 who attends FDMC and Cameron 10 who is at St Joseph’s New Plymouth. As a family we enjoy getting out and visiting what our local region has to offer. We enjoy going to the beach and supporting our boys in their sporting and hobbies.

I look forward to meeting you all and developing positive and meaningful relationships with all staff and whānau.

Tara Barrameda

Kia ora, my name is Tara, and I am thrilled to be part of the Future Kids team in Spotswood. I am originally from the Philippines, and since I was little, I have always enjoyed spending time with children. As an adult, I feel that each child is unique, and it is our responsibility as educators to encourage and guide them in their learning. In 2009, I received my Bachelor of Elementary degree with a major in Pre-school Education from the University of Santo Tomas. I have 12 years of full-time teaching experience in Singapore and have taught children aged 2 to 6.

In my spare time, I enjoy doing yoga and mat Pilates at home. I also enjoy walking outdoors and am interested in the environment and recycling.

I am excited to collaborate and build relationships with the Future Kids Tamariki and their Whanau.

Janine Ingle

Hi, my name is Janine and I am excited to be joining the Future Kids team.

I have been a teacher for five and a half years since finishing my degree in 2019. I love my job because for every effort I make to help children become the best people they can be I get back tenfold from the children in smiles, hugs and laughs.

I am a proud mother of three adult sons who are all in their 30s and I have a beautiful Grand-daughter called Hillary, she is nearly two and a half and I love her to bits.

In my free time I enjoy walking my two dogs, tramping  with my sons whenever we can get together, reading and sewing.

My latest big adventure (as pictured) was a flight on a four-seater Cessna from Wellington airport where my eldest son was the pilot. A definite proud mum moment.

I’m looking forward to meeting you all.

Stephanie Hicks

Kia ora, my name is Steph, and I'm so excited to be joining Te Rūma o Ao and getting to know you all.

I grew up in Auckland, before moving to New Plymouth with my family in 2019. I have two school-aged daughters and a 3.5 year old son, Ashley, who will be attending Te Rūma o ahi. I completed a Graduate Diploma of Teaching in 2020, and have worked with toddlers and infants for the past few years.

I believe in creating a learning space where all tamariki feel safe, nurtured and empowered to try new things and build meaningful relationships with kaiako and other tamariki.

Shahla Francis

Tēnā koutou e te whānau, ngā mihi aroha ki a koutou!

My name is Shahla and I am delighted to be a part of the wonderful team at Future Kids Spotswood. I come from Kinderen, a small family-owned Centre which, unfortunately, closed last year. I hope I can represent the aroha and manaaki of that place here.

I am passionate about working in partnership with whānau to discover and bring out all the virtues - the beautiful gems within each of your tamariki. I believe we are all spiritual beings, put on this earth to be kind to each other and to all.

Among the many subjects I am deeply interested in, is local pūrakau (stories) and the histories and Reo of the Tangata Whenua o Taranaki. I am looking forward to sharing these stories with ngā tamariki and would love to walk with whānau on this journey.

Ahakoa he iti he pounamu (although it is small it is treasure)

Rachel Tayloe
Team Leader

My name is Rachel and I was born and raised in Wellington. I’ve decided it was a time for a big change and after visiting New Plymouth several times I decided this is where I want to be!

My love of early childhood first came from my aunty who is also a teacher, and she used to tell me all about her job and how much she loved it. After getting my Bachelor of Teaching and starting my first job I realised that this was exactly what I wanted to do.

I love working with children and seeing how they grow every day. I’m a strong believer in treating them respectfully, building responsive and reciprocal relationships and giving them new and exciting experiences every day to foster their needs and development.

In my spare time, I love visiting my family and friends, going out for coffee and reading a good book

Astrid Schrimgeour
Team Leader

Kia ora or Hallo,

My name is Astrid Scrimgeour and I will be the team leader in the under two's room at Future Kids Spotswood.

I am a fully registered teacher, mum of 2 teenage girls, living on a lifestyle block in Midhirst where I can practice one of my passions of getting more sustainable.

The other passion being, working with young tamaiti. Originally being from the Netherlands where I gained my qualifications, meant that I had to do a post graduate diploma here and after many years of being a unqualified teacher and a centre administrator I finally took that step. Now qualified since 2020, I am passionate on using my experience and skills in supporting other kaiako, qualified, unqualified or in training everyone has their strengths and I like to get to know everyone and build on that.

I'm always open for feedback and appreciate a open way of communicating expectations. I'm excited about getting to know everyone soon and building this foundation team.

Nga mihi nui

Astrid

Neralee Diamond

Kia Ora,

My name is Neralee Diamond. I am in my second-year training towards Bachelor of Teaching Early Childhood Education. I have lived in New Plymouth since I was 9 when my family moved here from Palmerston North. My husband and I have been together for 30 years and we have two adult children Chloe 25 and Ethan 18. My life has been heavily involved with caring for people and animals. We have four cats, fish and three very treasured dogs, Sophia, Evie and Hazel. I am a people’s person and have worked with elderly, people with life challenges and the young. I have nursed for both my parents who have had Cancer, mum who was only 39 at the time. Working in nursing with elderly, dementia, disability and behavioral management areas was extremely rewarding and knowledgeable. But somehow, I always ended up back working with the young. I have been working for the last three years with toddlers in a centre and before this was an in-home educator for ten years.

You will find me to go that extra mile, I’m still learning to say no and delegate but always happy to help. I’m reliable, honest and very caring down to earth person. You may find me asking questions so I can get to know you all on a personal nature. Supportive is my middle name and if you ever just want to chat, sing out. My family mean the world to me, I talk or see both my parents daily, and we spend lots of time together. I love going out and having fun for dinner and lunch with friends, family or socialsing for a giggle. My hobbies include op shopping, and cooking lots of yummy gluten-free food as I am Coeliac. Creative activities. Gardening and living from the earth. Fostering for SPCA. I am learning to crochet as there are so many amazing resources you can make.

I’m super excited to be part of the Future Kids family and I look forward to building all those rewarding relationships with you all. To have this unique opportunity to start with a new team and centre is super special.

Kia Ora! My name is Shelomi, and I am from Sri Lanka. I am married and live with my husband, Shalindra. I have worked as an early childhood teacher for nine years in Sri Lanka in two different establishments. I completed my Bachelor of Education (ECE) Hons in 2023 and recently received my registration and provisional practicing certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.

I come from a family of teachers, and my grandmother and mother inspired me to become one. Teaching quickly became my passion. I am looking forward to meeting my new Tamariki and their Whānau and getting to know them, as I believe that these relationships are the scaffolding to one’s learning and development. I am really excited and thankful for the opportunity to relocate to New Zealand to join the Future Kids Team in Spotswood.

Vivienne Bell

Hi, my name is Vivienne and I am looking forward to joining the new team at Spotswood.  I am a fully qualified kaiako and have been working recently with 2 to 5 year olds, but enjoy working with 2 -3 year olds the most.

am originally from Wellington and moved up here nearly 23 years ago for a slower lifestyle, but it keeps getting busy.  My three children have left home but always enjoy it when they come back for a visit.  Along with my husband (he does all the hard work) we run a couple of businesses installing and maintaining fire alarm systems.  I end up with all the paperwork to complete.  We have been building a new home and hope to move in soon.  It has been a large project.

It will be great to meet you all soon and form those new relationships.

I'm a proud mum to my son Tyson, an aunty to many, an avid foodie, foreshore walker and when I'm not working I'm most likely coaching my marching team, learning to ballroom/ Latin dance, or discovering new places to eat so that  I can go home and try out new recipes on my family. I'm excited to meet you all and be apart of the new team as the chef at Future kids.

Born and bred in New Plymouth, I have recently moved back after 12 years in Mount Maunganui where I worked in events and childcare. I have two children my son, Tayne 23, and my daughter Bella 12.

In 2021 I completed my level two and level three certificate and teaching early childhood education and will be looking at furthering my studies in the near future.

I love performing arts music and dance and passed my NZRAD with honors with distinction in tap jazz and ballet. This is where my passion for teaching was developed.

I love being a part of children's learning and development and seeing tamariki reached their full potential. What a privilege it is to play a part in their lives during those vital years.
I look forward to meeting you all.
